We amplify the voice of purchasers, sending a clear message to the marketplace about expectations for high achievement and continuous improvement. Resulting infrastructure changes are impressive. The legacy of Minnesota Bridges to Excellence
Since its introduction by The Action Group in 2005, The Minnesota Bridges to Excellence (MNBTE) program advanced both care delivery and outcomes by rewarding clinics for meeting or exceeding a strict set of care standards for patients with diabetes, depression, and vascular disease–conditions known to be primary drivers of health care costs. This purchaser-led pay-for-performance program was tailored for the Minnesota marketplace, and used guidelines developed by the Institute for Clinical System Improvement (ICSI), and measurement development and public reporting by Minnesota Community Measurement.
The goals of MNBTE were to:
- Improve quality of care for patients
- Strengthen purchaser and consumer awareness about variations in quality
- Encourage provider competition based on quality outcomes
